* Autistics are speaking because we know it is our right.
* Autistics are speaking because the silencing of autistic voices needs to end.
* Autistics are speaking because it is time for non-autistics to listen.
* Autistics are speaking because we know we have civil rights and we will fight for them.
* Autistics are speaking because we are many and we communicate in many different ways.
* Autistics are speaking because WE CAN.
* Autistics are speaking because being silent is being compliant with oppression.
* Autistics are speaking because we grew up and we found our voices.
* Autistics are speaking because we want young autistics to always believe their voices count.
* Autistics are speaking because we are here and we want to be heard.
* Autistics are speaking because silencing us is not an option anymore
* Autistics are speaking because it is Autistics Speaking Day.
* Because we speak every day!
I had two sons with autism, they both have amazing superhuman abilities. Autism is defined as a disorder, but we can’t see how their special abilities can be considered a disorder. When they started to realize what autism meant to people around them, I redefined my sons which gave them purpose and made them proud of themselves. I no longer have a child with autism. I have been given the responsibility of raising an Autisarian; a child gifted with special abilities due to the disorder known as autism. Together we publish a book series about an autistic superhero named Survivor. Our stories are designed to encourage the search for the Autisarian in every autistic child and to motivate an offensive attack against depression; what we feel is an Autisarians greatest enemy. Please view our site and support us as we will support you in changing the way people see autism. www.theinspireweekly.com

Love this! Thank you for writing it.
ReplyDeleteI like this because there are two people in a conversation, and they trade communicating and listening responsibilities. NT people are often not that good at listening. Everyone has something to communicate, and they deserve to be heard.
